Iphone Modem Project

I've tried building project 12.21, but have had a lot of trouble getting it to work with my itouch. I have double checked all my wiring for the circuit and can find no problems. I get the correct serial output of "UART <-> FSK booted" on power up, so the chip is running. When I launch FSK Terminal and try to transmit any character I actually transmit a total of 32 bytes. The 32 bytes are not always consistent for the same character either. I have tried transmitting data from the PC back and have never gotten any response at all. I've downloaded all the files off of the website and used the updated schematic, so I'm not sure why I'm having as much difficulty as I am. I'm using a itouch instead of an iphone if that is part of the problem, but I thought the hardware used for this project was interchangeable.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If 32bytes are not consistent for the same character, then there might be problem in the encoder/decoder to properly archived the right data & might be problem in the modulation of the system.

I have a problem with iPhone 3gs. It is not working for 1200 baud. However, no problem with iPhone 3G. Is there any hardware issue to consider? The transmission signal from 3GS has no problem, I think. But the receive signal is too low for 3GS.

Has anybody actually gotten the 1200 baud RS232 to audio port hack working? I got the book and it's very confusing IMHO and I can't find anybody online who has actually done it and had it work.

We have a 1200 baud rs232 sensor that I would love to get working with an ipod touch or a iphone. Our current software is for microsoft mobile and we were running it on ipaq rx1955 pda's. However, it seems that nobody makes a windows mobile PDA with a serial port that will run at 1200 baud anymore. We'd like to be able to provide our sensor & some sort of smart phone or PDA without spending a fortune because it's a low volume product, and this looked like a good solution.

Bluetooth seems to be too not work for it due to port issues and draws too much power from the probe.

If anybody has any suggestions or a solution for me let me know at guyt...@yahoo.com

Our app is simple, it takes readings from the sensor and I'm sure could be re-written easily for apple.

So if anybody knows about this stuff...

    Thanks in advance
